MP3 SAMPLES

These MP3 samples are recorded with a "run off a mill" Marshall 4x12 (75w speakers, to demo how it sounds with a standard, not that great cabinet) and 2x12" EVM cabinets using Shure SM57 microphone.

No EQ, or other effects but some reverb/delay on few tracks are used from the mixing board. The sound is as pure as it can be. The amp had stock Svetlana EL34 and JJ ECC83 tubes, only the phase inverter tube was selected for balanced sides, other were off the shelf.

All samples we made by:
Olli Siikanen: Guitar
Risto Toppola: Guitar (tracks 1,6,7)
Mikko Kaakkuriniemi: Drums
Mikko Määttä: Bass

Guitars used:
Tokai Strat w/Lindy Fralin pickups
Gibson Les Paul
Fender Stratocaster + w/Lace Sensor (to demo how the amp sounds with not so good pickups ;-)
Valley Arts Custom Pro w/EMG pickups
Ibanez Artist John Scofield model

All samples written by Olli Siikanen, any resemblance to classic tones/playing styles or songs of any living or deceased great artists are totally intentionally.

On the samples all the numbers are like hand of a clock BUT the Focus that is a four position switch, the positions are:
1: Open with treble boost
2: Open
3: Solid
4: Solid with treble boost

First Greetings from Olli
Hello everyone and welcome to the world of The Mad Professor Amp!! Following sound samples are just our way to use this particular amp, so I definitely encourage you to search for your own kind of tone (which you most likely WILL find from this amp). I hope these samples give you some kind of start point! The way these samples sound is because of we didn't actually do anything for the sound that we recorded in. In other words: All the EQ's were totally flat till the very end of the recording session! Enjoy!

Greetings, Olli

THESE SAMPLES ARE BY ANDREAS RYDMAN:
A note from Andreas:
The sound samples were recorded in my flat at Stockholm and since I live in a flat I can´t play to loud. But the amp sound VERY GOOD even at bedroom levels. But there is nothing like a tube amp really cranked up... I used two mics on one on each speaker of the MP Cab. One Shure SM57 and a no name SM58 copy.
The SM57 was angled towards the side off the speakercone approx.. 3 cm from the speaker. The SM58 pointed towards the middle off the speaker.
From the mics the signal goes to my Digi 001 interface into Pro Tools LE. No EQ or compressors were used!!! I added some room reverb and that´s it! That's one off the really wonderful things about this amp. You don´t have to process the signal to make it live. This motherf#%er is full of BIG tone!!! The tracks that feature bass and drums are recorded at Smi and were recorded as backgrounds for guitar students. I used them so you could hear the amp with a band.

PRS McCarty Hollowbody II with .012-.052 strings.
